Pune Metro Line 3 is scheduled to begin phased operations in July, with the full route expected to be open to commuters by the end of August. The initial section from Maan station to R K Laxman museum on the Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar corridor will operate between six am and 11.30 pm to align with existing services. Train services along the entire 23 km stretch, except for four stations, are planned to be ready by August end, and this is projected to cut travel time from one and a half hour to 45 minutes.

The chief executive officer of Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd reported that the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety had conducted two inspections, had offered suggestions and that a final inspection was scheduled ahead of a clearance certificate. He indicated that approvals had been sought and compliance actions had been completed in preparation for operations. The company intends to commence services in phases.

The first phase is slated for July and the second phase by the end of August, leaving four stations outside initial operations. By December operations at only two stations are expected to remain pending while the remainder will be operational, with full project completion targeted by the end of March next year. The safety authority has approved the three-coach rolling stock for a maximum operating speed of 85 kmph.

Service frequency will match Lines one and two, with trains running at intervals of six to seven minutes under normal conditions and capable of being increased to four and a half minutes if required. Line three fares will be maintained at parity with existing Lines one and two operated by Maha-Metro. Infrastructure works include a completed interchange foot over bridge at Civil Court Line three and additional foot over bridges from Hinjewadi stations to IT office complexes for commuter convenience. The operator has recruited 100 women to form an all-women cadre of trained operators for the new line.
