RailTel Secures Rs 4,444.4 Million LoI For KSWAN 3.0 Project
The company stated that the award does not involve related party transactions and that the promoter, promoter group and group companies hold no interest in the awarding entity. RailTel will act as the system integrator for the project, which is intended to upgrade state government wide area network infrastructure. The selection follows a request for proposal process conducted by the Centre for E?Governance.
RailTel was incorporated in 2000 with the objective of creating nationwide broadband and virtual private network services, telecom and multimedia networks to modernise the train control operation and safety system of Indian Railways. The company reported that its standalone net profit declined by 4.07 per cent to Rs 624.0 mn in the third quarter of fiscal year 2026 from the same quarter a year earlier. Revenue from operations rose by 18.99 per cent year on year to Rs 9,134.5 mn in the third quarter of fiscal year 2026.
Market reaction included a modest share price fall, with shares slipping 3.13 per cent to close at Rs 260.25 on 27 March 2026. The company indicated that project execution will span several years to 2031 and that the contract forms part of its strategy to expand government connectivity services. The award may support future revenue streams as the project is implemented across participating states.
