Railways Minister to Inaugurate New Rail Sections Covering 118 km

Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will inaugurate the Satna-Devendra Nagar and Rewa-Churhat rail sections in Madhya Pradesh on October 24. The two sections have a combined length of 118 km and are intended to improve passenger and freight connectivity across the region.

Vaishnaw will also flag off a new train service between Devendra Nagar and Churhat. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will attend the inauguration programme, according to information released by the Ministry of Railways.

The 53-km Satna-Devendra Nagar section is expected to improve rail access to Satna, Nagod, Devendra Nagar and surrounding areas. Better connectivity on the route is intended to support passenger movement and facilitate the transportation of goods through the adjoining districts.

The 65-km Rewa-Churhat section will strengthen the rail link between the Rewa and Sidhi regions. The new infrastructure is also expected to support industrial development, trade and employment by improving access to markets and transport facilities in the area.

The sections form part of the wider Lalitpur-Singrauli new rail line project, which is considered important for the Vindhya region. The project will expand the railway network and improve connectivity to Panna, Satna, Rewa, Sidhi and Singrauli, linking more parts of eastern and central Madhya Pradesh with the rail system.

The inauguration and train launch are expected to add capacity to the region’s passenger network while providing an additional route for freight movement. The improved links could also help connect industrial and commercial activity in the participating districts with other parts of the state.
