Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has invited e-tenders for the construction of 10 elevated metro stations and an elevated viaduct on the Baranagar-Barrackpore Metro Corridor in Kolkata, West Bengal. The contract is valued at Rs 15,873.9 million (mn) and represents a major step in the expansion of the Kolkata Metro network. The tender is listed under the number RVNL_KOL_METRO_BBVS and bids are due on 29 September 2026 at 11:00 AM.

The tender notice specifies a pre-bid meeting on 25 August 2026 at 11:30 AM and an earnest money deposit of Rs 20 mn. The completion period for the package is 42 months and bids will remain valid for 120 days. RVNL has invited submissions through its electronic procurement portal in line with public sector contracting norms and has emphasised compliance with required technical and financial qualification criteria.

The selected contractor will construct 10 elevated metro stations and the viaduct on a stretch of about 12.3 km running from Baranagar Metro Station, excluding the station limits, to Mangal Pandey Metro Station. The work falls under Package BBVS and includes associated civil and architectural works, platforms, access facilities, and viaduct structures and associated track formation and drainage works. The scope will require coordination with local authorities and utilities during the execution period and will be subject to periodic quality audits during the execution period.

The Baranagar-Barrackpore Metro Corridor, known as the Kolkata Metro Pink Line, is line five of the network and aims to extend metro services to the northern suburbs, improving connectivity to residential and commercial areas including Barrackpore. RVNL expects the package to accelerate service extension and urban transit integration as part of broader metro expansion programmes in the state. The tender adds to a series of ongoing projects intended to enhance capacity and network reach. The project will support urban development objectives and local mobility improvements.
