Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay reviewed the progress of Chennai Metro Rail's Phase I and Phase II projects and examined key construction sites, operational readiness and corridor works. The inspection placed emphasis on accelerating expansion, ensuring safer construction practices and improving last-mile access for commuters across the network. The review encompassed scrutiny of train operating areas, major work sites and the plans that guide future growth of the system.

He travelled from Government Estate Metro Station to Nandanam Metro Station and undertook a Metro journey that included a visit to the Operations Control Centre at the Chennai Metro Rail Limited headquarters. He purchased a ticket for the journey and engaged with passengers during the trip, taking photographs with commuters while assessing the quality of passenger facilities. Officials briefed him on monitoring arrangements and the management of train operations as part of the operational review.

The chief minister inspected the 101-foot-high Metro bridge at Kathipara on Corridor five of Phase II, which links Madhavaram and Sholinganallur, and reviewed the construction of the balanced cantilever elevated bridge. He sought details of the construction methodology and progress and was informed that the work was being executed without ground support pillars through careful planning and strict safety measures. The report noted that the programme of works had been configured to avoid disruption to Phase I services and to minimise impact on road traffic.

He also inspected the Porur Bypass Metro Station under Corridor four and participated in a trial run of an Unattended Train Operation driverless Metro train between Porur Bypass and Poonamallee Bypass stations to assess operational readiness. The review covered current operations, expansion work and preparedness for new services across the network and included discussion of feasibility studies. He enquired about last-mile connectivity and feeder transport arrangements to improve journeys from stations to final destinations.
