Telangana Chief Secretary Reviews Railway Project Status
He directed officials to undertake joint inspections with South Central Railway officials and to identify practical solutions for resolving pending issues. He instructed the preparation of plans for expansion of railway lines in the Future City, Outer Ring Road (ORR) and Regional Ring Road (RRR) areas to support projected urban growth and connectivity. The municipal administration, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) and the Revenue, Energy, Roads and Buildings departments were asked to work in close coordination for timely implementation.
Officials were told to prepare comprehensive Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) to secure funds under the PM Gati Shakti initiative of the Centre. The Chief Secretary also called for DPRs for the expansion of the Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS), the establishment of railway terminals in ORR and RRR regions around Hyderabad, and for land acquisition required for future railway connectivity, including bullet train corridors. Emphasis was placed on ensuring technical readiness and land availability to accelerate approval and funding.
The administration was directed to set clear timelines for joint inspections and for submission of DPRs so that central funding applications can be advanced without delay. Officials were asked to adopt an integrated approach to planning, aligning utility agencies and civic departments to reduce implementation delays and minimise disruptions to residents. Follow up meetings were proposed to monitor progress and to resolve any remaining issues swiftly.
