Traffic Diversions on OMR for Metro Rail Works
As part of the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) Phase two works, rectification of a 900 mm diameter sewer pipeline will be carried out on the incoming carriageway of Rajiv Gandhi Salai in front of the Elnet office. The GCTP announced the containment period will run from Tuesday, September one, to Saturday, September five, each night between 11 pm and five am. The stretch from Tidel Park Junction to Indira Nagar Signal in the incoming direction will be closed to general traffic during the night hours.
Entry will be permitted only for pick-up and drop-off vehicles bound for Tidel Park and the Elnet complex, and incoming vehicles at Tidel Park Junction will be diverted onto the outgoing carriageway up to Indira Nagar Signal where they will rejoin the incoming carriageway. Vehicles bound for Ramanujam IT City may access the area via the U-turn at Indira Nagar Signal. The new flyover on Sardar Patel Road near Madhya Kailash will remain closed to traffic for the duration of the works.
Heavy vehicles, including Metropolitan Transport Corporation buses, coming from Guindy will not be permitted to take a right turn at Madhya Kailash Junction and will be diverted via Adyar Junction, LB Road, Shastri Nagar first Avenue, 11th Cross Street and 10th Cross Street before rejoining LB Road towards ECR and OMR. Light vehicles arriving from Guindy will be permitted the right turn towards Rajiv Gandhi Salai and at Indira Nagar Signal will be diverted via Indira Nagar second Avenue, third Avenue and Kalakshetra Junction to join LB Road towards ECR and OMR. Commuters have been advised to allow additional travel time and to follow traffic personnel directions during the night work.
