Tunnel Breakthrough Marks Progress on Koraput–Singapur Line

A major milestone has been achieved in the Koraput–Singapur Road doubling project with the successful breakthrough of Tunnel No. 35. The 630-metre tunnel, located between Sikarpai (SKPI) and Keutguda (KTGA) stations in the Waltair Division, has been completed with full alignment accuracy.

Constructed on a five-degree curve in a horseshoe profile, the tunnel spans chainage Km 148.12 to Km 148.75. The work falls under the jurisdiction of the Chief Engineer, Construction-II, Visakhapatnam. Senior engineering officials from the Waltair Division visited the site to witness the breakthrough.

This achievement represents a significant step towards improving rail connectivity and expanding capacity along the Koraput–Singapur Road section. The completion of Tunnel No. 35 underscores East Coast Railway’s commitment to infrastructure development carried out with precision and high quality standards.

Once the doubling of the line is completed, the project is expected to strengthen regional connectivity and support broader development in the area.
