UPMRC Starts U-girder Casting for Agra Metro's Second Corridor

The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has commenced casting U-girders for the second corridor of the Agra Metro Rail Project, which extends from Agra Cantt to Kalindi Vihar. The casting process is being carried out at the Dauki casting yard in Agra district.

U-girders play a crucial role in metro construction, serving as the platform above viaduct piers to support the metro tracks. These pre-fabricated structures are manufactured in the casting yard before being installed at the project site using cranes, typically during nighttime hours to ensure safety and efficiency.

The civil work for the second corridor is progressing rapidly, aligning with the planned project schedule. Alongside this development, significant progress has been made in the underground section from SN Medical College to RBS College, with tunnelling work approaching completion.

The second corridor of the Agra Metro spans approximately 16 kilometre and requires around 800 U-girders, along with 400 other girders, including arch and double-T girders, for viaduct construction. The metro project aims to enhance urban mobility and provide a modern transportation system for the residents of Agra.
