Visakhapatnam Member of Parliament M. Sribharat urged South Coast Railway (SCoR) to accelerate key infrastructure projects, improve train punctuality and enhance passenger amenities across Visakhapatnam and north Andhra. He met the railways' general manager Sandeep Mathur at the SCoR headquarters in Siripuram and outlined priorities including station expansion, additional lines and new services. The appeal aimed to address commuter needs and operational bottlenecks.

Sribharat sought acceleration of plans to expand Visakhapatnam railway station from eight to 14 platforms and urged expediting construction of the third and fourth railway lines between Gopalapatnam and Visakhapatnam. He asked for modernisation of signalling systems and expansion of the Gnanapuram side coaching yard to improve throughput. These measures were presented as necessary to reduce delays and increase capacity.

He sought humanitarian consideration for railway employees posted in the Rayagada division after the bifurcation of the erstwhile Waltair division, noting that many have families based in Visakhapatnam. He requested that transfer applications be forwarded to East Coast Railway and the railway board where administratively feasible. He also highlighted the need to upgrade foot over bridges, lifts, escalators, waiting halls, parking and passenger circulation.

He asked SCoR to identify operational bottlenecks along the Visakhapatnam–Gopalapatnam–Kothavalasa corridor and implement short and long term measures to address them. He sought a feasibility study for halts of Vande Bharat trains 20833 and 20708 at Duvvada to benefit commuters from Gajuwaka, Duvvada and surrounding areas. He also placed proposals for new Vande Bharat services to Tirupati, Chennai, Secunderabad and Bengaluru.

Sribharat urged regular reviews of pending projects, faster approvals and timely allocation of funds to accelerate railway development across north Andhra. He stressed that improved infrastructure and services were essential to meet the growing demands of passengers and to support the region's economic development. The requests were framed as steps to ensure better connectivity and operational efficiency.
