Ahmedabad Geetamandir Bus Port Terminal Two Ready with Airport Facilities
The facility has been developed with airport like facilities to improve passenger comfort and ease of travel. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi is scheduled to inaugurate the new terminal today. Authorities say the design focuses on smoother boarding and reduced congestion.
Terminal Two will become operational from 13 August and is expected to handle 1,091 buses daily servicing routes to Saurashtra-Kutch and North Gujarat. The new arrangement aims to streamline departures by grouping services according to destination regions. Under the plan, buses bound for South Gujarat will continue to operate from Terminal One.
Geetamandir Bus Port previously handled a high volume of passengers travelling across Gujarat, which frequently resulted in heavy crowds and crowded boarding areas. Terminal Two has been designed to reduce congestion and make boarding more convenient for commuters, with passenger circulation and ticketing arrangements reorganised accordingly. The facility is intended to offer clearer information flow and improved waiting areas to ease travel stress. Transport management has adjusted schedules and bay assignments to support the operational change.
The introduction of Terminal Two is part of a broader effort to improve urban transport infrastructure in Ahmedabad and to provide better connectivity to districts in Saurashtra-Kutch and North Gujarat. Authorities will monitor daily operations and make adjustments to timetables and bay usage based on passenger volumes. The inauguration marks a step towards modernising regional bus services and enhancing the commuter experience. Services are due to commence from 13 August following the launch.
