Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah will launch the Land Port Management System (LPMS) on Tuesday, nine June 2026 in New Delhi, the government said. The LPMS has been presented as a digital platform to integrate operations across land ports into a unified system and to support real-time exchange of logistics and regulatory information. The launch will coincide with inaugurations of stakeholder accommodation facilities at Dawki in Meghalaya and Srimantapur in Tripura.

The government described LPMS as a neutral and open platform that will bring land ports at par with digital systems used at airports and seaports and will facilitate coordination among agencies and private operators. The system is designed to introduce end-to-end digital workflows for cargo and passenger processing, including slot booking, payments, tracking and single-window clearances. It will be fully integrated with national platforms such as ICEGATE, ULIP and the motor vehicle ecosystem to enable interoperable and transparent border management.

The Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI), a statutory body under the Department of Border Management in the Ministry of Home Affairs, is responsible for developing and managing land ports to facilitate trade, connectivity and regional cooperation. LPAI currently operates 15 land ports across India including Attari and Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab; Rupaidiha, Raxaul and Jogbani in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar; Darranga in Assam; Petrapole and Dawki in West Bengal and Meghalaya respectively; and Moreh in Manipur. The authority also administers Sutarkandi, Golakganj, Mankachar, Agartala, Srimantapur and Sabroom.

The government said the LPMS launch marks a step towards modern, technology-enabled border management intended to strengthen trade facilitation, connectivity and national security and to support the Viksit Bharat objective for 2047. Officials expect reduced delays and improved operational efficiency through secure, real-time workflows and interoperable systems. The launch follows an ongoing programme to enhance infrastructure and digital capability at land ports.
