The Andhra Pradesh government has moved to accelerate the development of the Ramayapatnam greenfield port after a high-level review at the state Secretariat. A Cabinet sub-committee led by senior ministers assessed project status and outlined the next phase of execution. The panel directed that measures be taken to speed up construction and to strengthen transport linkages for the port.

A major decision at the meeting was to approve an extension of time for completing the port's first phase, enabling revised scheduling of works. Connectivity emerged as a central priority, with the panel stressing that efficient road and rail access will be essential for the port's long-term viability. Officials were asked to prepare detailed proposals covering land acquisition and funding, with particular attention to a proposed northern road corridor and a parallel double railway line.

The review was attended by ministers Pyyavula Keshav, BC Janardhan Reddy and Kandula Durgesh along with senior officials including Abhishek Kumar, chief executive officer of the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board (APMB). Chief Engineer GV Raghavarao and representatives of the executing agency Navayuga Engineering Company (NEC) were also present to brief the panel on technical and implementation issues. The participation underlined the intent to align policy, engineering and executing agency plans for expedited delivery.

Officials were directed to submit firm timelines and detailed financial estimates to enable the Cabinet sub-committee to monitor progress and clear subsequent approvals. The panel indicated that timely land acquisition and dedicated funding mechanisms will be prioritised to avoid delays in the next phase of construction. Stakeholders will continue consultations to finalise execution schedules and to ensure that transport linkages support the port's operational requirements.
