SCI to launch coastal container service between Kandla and Tuticorin

Shipping Corporation of India will reroute its SMILE service to operate between Kandla and Tuticorin, starting 16 June. The new rotation is Pipavav–Kandla– Tuticorin–Cochin–Pipavav. It will carry raw cotton and chemicals from Gujarat, and solar panels, tyres and machinery spares from Tamil Nadu. The existing SMILE route serves Cochin, Tuticorin, Colombo, Mundra, Jebel Ali, Mundra, Pipavav and Hazira. Chairperson Susanta Kumar Purohit and Rear Admiral Jaswinder Singh held discussions to launch the service.
