Vizhinjam Port Rail Link Tender Expected Soon

Tenders for the Vizhinjam port rail link are expected within 10 days, with final approvals underway. The Rs 14.82 billion, 10.7 km EPC project includes a 9.43 km tunnel—India’s third longest—and aims to enhance cargo access from nearby states. Konkan Railway submitted the draft; contracts may be awarded by November. Reportedly, the line will boost Vizhinjam’s cargo potential. Completion is slated for December 2028, with authorities addressing local concerns through awareness efforts.
