Globe Forge Limited will inaugurate its Shirdi Defence Manufacturing Complex on 23 and 24 May 2026 in a two-day event that the company expects to draw students, engineers, government leaders, defence officials, industry experts, MSMEs, investors and media from across India. The event will include a defence capability showcase, an MSME expo and the inauguration of an artillery shell production line.

The complex, located in Shirdi in Ahilya Nagar district, is presented as a major milestone in private sector defence manufacturing and a reinforcement of India’s capabilities in indigenous technology and strategic production. Company statements framed the project as aligned with the Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives and indicated support for advanced manufacturing in defence and aerospace segments.

A key feature of the facility is a state-of-the-art artillery shell production line with an annual capacity of nearly 500,000 shells, which the company says will constitute the largest such capacity in India’s private sector. The plant is intended to supply artillery shells ranging from 40 mm to 155 mm suitable for tactical missions and light artillery, and to support supply chains for domestic defence needs.

Globe Forge Limited and its parent described the project as an integrated vision of national security, economic growth, MSME empowerment, employment generation and environmental responsibility. The companies indicated the complex is expected to create significant opportunities for local industries and youth and to contribute to Maharashtra’s emergence as a centre for advanced manufacturing.

Global Defence Industries Limited was incorporated on 22 December 1984 and operates in defence manufacturing with a portfolio that includes guns, ammunition, explosives, armoured vehicle components and naval systems. Globe Forge Limited, a subsidiary, focuses on manufacturing ammunition shells and aims to support indigenous production of military hardware and to engage students and young professionals in innovation, collaboration and career development.
