In a significant milestone, Indore Smart City Development Limited (ISCDL) and the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) have been conferred with the prestigious CII–Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Green City Platinum Certification, positioning Indore among the top three cities in India to achieve this recognition.

The award follows a comprehensive six-month evaluation of Indore’s urban sustainability initiatives, including water resource management, energy efficiency, waste reduction, e-governance, green cover enhancement, and sustainable city planning.

This certification underscores the Madhya Pradesh government’s commitment to green and inclusive development, establishing Indore as a benchmark for environmentally responsible urban growth.

The award was formally presented by Sunil Chordia, Chairman of the CII National Committee on MSME, to Collector Asheesh Singh and IMC Commissioner Shivam Varma.

With this distinction, Indore joins an exclusive group of only 32 cities and zones across India to receive the Platinum rating under IGBC’s green city framework.

Since its inception, the Indian Green Building Council has certified over 16,300 projects nationwide, contributing to a total green building footprint exceeding 14.15 billion square feet. Currently, nearly 90 per cent of all green-certified projects in India are aligned with IGBC standards, making it the most trusted and widely adopted green rating system in the country.
