Japan Eyes Big Investment in Dholera SIR

According to news reports, Japan’s Ambassador to India, Keiichi Ono, led a high‑level delegation of Japanese industrial and semiconductor companies to the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) in Gujarat. During the visit, the group toured Dholera’s proposed smart‑city infrastructure and was briefed on the Tata Electronics semiconductor fabrication facility under development in collaboration with Taiwan’s PSMC — a key anchor of the Semicon India Programme, part of over ₹1.54 lakh crore semiconductor investments in the state.

The delegation also met with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, affirming the state's commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, accelerating semiconductor and electric vehicle investments, and enhancing industrial and social infrastructure at Dholera SIR — described by CM Patel as a "second home to Japan."
