Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has approved ₹8.5 million to prepare the detailed project report for Maharashtra’s first Electric Rapid Transit System pilot. The proposed 17 km corridor will connect Godown Chowk with Wakad, serving locations including Kudalwadi Chowk, Auto Cluster, Kalewadi Phata and Jagtap Dairy Chowk. The DPR will assess alignment, stations, vehicle specifications, costs, environmental impacts, ridership and integration with existing transport. Each electric vehicle is proposed to accommodate up to 240 passengers.
