A major industrial development is set to take shape in Telangana as the Zaheerabad Integrated Industrial Smart City is to receive a formal push when the Prime Minister lays the foundation stone on 10 May. The project is positioned as a key growth engine within the Hyderabad–Nagpur Industrial Corridor and is planned as a comprehensive industrial ecosystem. Officials have indicated it will support advanced manufacturing and economic expansion in the region.

The initiative is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 23,605.4 million (mn). It will span 3,200 acres and will be organised into dedicated zones for logistics, automobile components, electronics, machinery, metals, non?metallic minerals and food processing. Planners intend the cluster to accommodate both large industries and ancillary businesses with plug?and?play facilities.

Officials have suggested the project could attract investments exceeding Rs 100 billion (bn) and generate around 174,000 employment opportunities by 2029, or 0.174 million (mn). Alongside industrial units the development will include residential and commercial spaces, educational institutions and skill training centres to create a self?sustaining urban?industrial environment. A strong emphasis is being placed on technology integration and sustainability, with plans for eco?friendly systems.

Its location along the industrial corridor is expected to enhance connectivity and make the site an attractive destination for investors. Authorities plan dedicated infrastructure to ease business operations and to support logistics and supply chains serving the cluster. The ceremony on 10 May is intended to mark the start of construction for the Zaheerabad smart city.

Officials expect phased development to follow the ground?breaking, with infrastructure roll?out aligned to investor commitments and planning approvals. The master plan envisages common utilities, dedicated power and waste management systems to support manufacturing operations and to reduce lead times for new units. Authorities view the smart city as a means to broaden regional industrial capacity and to spur ancillary services across nearby districts.
