Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the Polo Commercial Complex, Shillong’s first modern mall, developed at a cost of Rs 1 billion under the Smart City Mission. Spanning 1.26 acre, the eco-friendly complex features rooftop solar and rainwater harvesting systems. Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma credited the SASCI scheme for the city's infrastructure growth and highlighted upcoming projects like a riverfront, sports complex, and new administrative city aimed at enhancing urban living and economic development.
