The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) held a review meeting under the chairmanship of Krishna Kumar, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, to strengthen the city’s waste management system and ensure 100 per cent door-to-door waste collection across all wards.

The meeting was attended by sanitation supervisors, contractors, and the City Manager, with a special focus on integrating basti and slum areas into the daily waste collection network.

Krishna Kumar directed that every household—whether in a slum or organised colony—must practise daily segregation and collection of wet and dry waste. He instructed all sanitation supervisors to conduct awareness campaigns to educate residents about waste segregation at source and to maintain strict monitoring of collection efficiency.

Contractors were asked to deploy adequate vehicles and staff to ensure timely and efficient waste pickup. It was also decided that GPS-based tracking and Swachhta App reporting would be used to monitor daily collection activities, particularly in slum areas.

Emphasising collective responsibility, Krishna Kumar stated that achieving a “Clean Jamshedpur” required teamwork from officials, contractors, and residents alike, ensuring that every settlement, neighbourhood, and home remained clean and hygienic.
