Tata Steel UISL Inaugurates 5 MLD Water Treatment Plant

In a major boost to Jamshedpur’s urban water infrastructure, Tata Steel UISL today inaugurated a 5 MLD Water Treatment Plant at Bhuiyandih and an Automated Water Supply System at the Central Water Tower in Bistupur.

The facilities were inaugurated by Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President – Corporate Services, Tata Steel, alongside Ritu Raj Sinha, Managing Director – Tata Steel UISL.

Towards 100% Piped Water Coverage With the new Bhuiyandih plant, Tata Steel UISL has now achieved near-total drinking water production capacity for its service areas. The facility will benefit around 4,500 households across Babudih Lalbhatta, Bhuiyandih, NML Colony, Gwala Bustee, and surrounding areas.

Built with Pressure Sand Filter (PSF) and Activated Carbon Filter (ACF) technology, the plant ensures safe and clean drinking water while promoting inclusivity through piped water access in underserved communities.

Smart Water Supply for Bistupur The newly commissioned Automated Water Supply System at Bistupur’s Central Water Tower is designed to enhance operational efficiency and provide uninterrupted, timely water supply across the locality.

Commitment to Urban Transformation Speaking at the event, Tata Steel UISL urged residents to apply for water connections as per government norms and avail timely, high-quality services.

Senior leaders including Varun Bajaj, Sanjeev Jha, and Rabindra Kumar Singh were also present, reiterating Tata Steel UISL’s mission to improve urban living through sustainable and tech-driven infrastructure.
