Underground utility construction equipment company Ditch Witch has introduced a new MT26 micro trencher, RT80 ride-on trencher and HX75 vacuum excavator, which is designed to create deep, clean, narrow trenches for cable installations in one pass, combined with the Ditch Witch.
The attachment uses a standard hydraulic plunge to give variable depth control and can cut a clean trench from 1.5 to 3 inches wide and down to 26 inches deep.
It lets the contractors install a 2-inch power or fibre cable line with the necessary 2 feet of ground cover in one pass, a process that used to require a rock saw.
The contractors can also bypass cleaning up spoils and dirt in addition to avoiding the more invasive trench left by using a rock saw. Utilising the MT26 lets the contractors forego the more involved setup necessary when using a horizontal directional drill for these jobs.
The MT26's 3-inch maximum width helps simplify the trench cleaning process, especially at the deeper depths. The company told the media that this is the widest offered today.
The unit is compatible with four-inch, five-inch and six-inch vacuum excavator hoses and it simultaneously vacuum excavates the spoils while cutting.
The attachment can be equipped with a various number of blades, including Ditch Witch PDC blades with a diamond-embedded carbine and standard carbide-tipped blades.
The MT26 is the largest micro trencher, which includes the MT12, MT16 and MT9 in the Ditch Witch lineup.
