Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (Gmada) is making tangible progress in establishing its ambitious township, Aerotropolis, by awarding the tender for grid roads' development within Pockets A, B, C & D of the project. Estimated to cost around Rs 1.95 billion, the allocated work is projected to conclude in April 2025, as confirmed by Gmada Chief Administrator Rajiv Gupta. The expansive Aerotropolis project is slated to encompass approximately 5,500 acres, with development transpiring in distinct phases.

The initial phase will witness the establishment of grid roads across roughly 1,650 acres, followed by the subsequent phase's focus on the development of internal roads within this area. These designated spaces will subsequently be earmarked for residential, commercial, and institutional purposes, illuminating the diverse potential of the project.

Elaborating on the specifics of the awarded tender, Gupta elaborated that M/s SBEIPL-HRG (JV) had secured the contract. The company will undertake the development of grid roads within different pockets outlined within the project. The successful completion of this task will not only shape the project but also pave the path for forthcoming construction activities within its confines. The intricate nature of the endeavour encompasses diverse services including civil, public health, and electrical, all to be executed concurrently to facilitate meticulous and cohesive development.

Gupta characterised Aerotropolis as a prestigious venture for the development authority, underlining the provision of contemporary infrastructure and an environment attuned to nature and luxury. Its strategic proximity to the international airport and adjacency to the already established Aero City & IT City townships of Gmada positions Aerotropolis as a coveted future destination. As the project advances, it holds the promise of becoming a magnet for aspirational living and progressive urban planning.
