NHAI suspends Reliance Infra rights to rescue delayed Pune-Satara NH

In order to salvage the delayed project that involves the Pune-Satara National Highway six-laning, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has suspended the rights of the M/s Reliance Infra-floated special purpose vehicle (SPV) M/S P S Toll Road Private Limited and is now collecting the toll for the expeditious completion of the project.

M/S P S Toll Road Private Limited made this disclosure in an affidavit that had been filed last week to the Bombay High Court, hearing a petition filed by Right to Information Act (RTI) activist- advocate Pravin Wategaonkar and Sanjay Shirodkar to seek a directive to prosecute Reliance Infra-floated SPV P S Toll Road Private Limited which involves alleged irregularities in the toll collection project at the Pune-Satara National Highway.

S P S Toll Road Private Limited in the affidavit mentioned that NHAI after the meeting held on July 7, 2021, with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari invoked the contract- Article 36, on November 1, 2011, they suspended rights of the Reliance Infra-floated SPV and commenced toll collection revenue of Rs 25 crore every month. The NHAI has taken the extreme step for salvaging this project and expeditiously completing it.

The petitioners seek criminal action against Reliance Infra-floated SPV P S Toll Road Road Private Limited for the alleged irregularities in the toll collection project at the Pune-Satara National Highway. They have further sought investigations by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
