01 Jul 2023

It was announced via a tweet by the Commerce and Transport department that the Odisha government would be launching a scheme on Independence Day to facilitate smooth transportation in rural areas. The innovative scheme, known as Location Accessible Multimodal Initiative (LAccMI), was stated to be launched on August 15 for rural transport.

The scheme's initial focus would be on connectivity at the block and district levels. It was also mentioned that a Mo Bus service would be introduced in every panchayat.

It was further stated that the Mo Buses would operate from the panchayats to the blocks, and later on, they would be integrated with inter-city bus operations. The scheme's first phase was scheduled to be implemented in the Koraput, Gajapati, and Kalahandi districts.

The commencement of the first phase of operations was planned for October 2, targeting remote regions with limited or no public transport connectivity. The services would then be gradually expanded to all regions by January 2024.
