Pune Airport's DigiYatra project triumph

01 Feb 2024

In a groundbreaking move, the Ministry of Civil Aviation declared Pune Airport as a pioneering location for the implementation of the DigiYatra Project. On January 31, 2024, it was announced that the DigiYatra system had achieved a significant milestone, with over one million passengers embracing this innovative digital travel experience.

The DigiYatra system, launched on March 31, 2023, exceeded expectations by reaching the one-million-passenger mark in less than a year. This remarkable utilization not only surpassed the anticipated growth trajectory but also earned widespread appreciation from passengers who embraced the contactless and paperless travel facilitated by DigiYatra. Currently, 5 Airlines, namely Indigo, Air India, Spicejet, Akasa, and Vistara Airlines, are integrated with the DigiYatra system at Pune Airport, and AAI is in the process of onboarding the remaining airlines very soon.

The core principle of the DigiYatra system involves automating the passenger authentication process, resulting in a seamless, contactless, and paperless travel experience for individuals navigating through Pune Airport. A noteworthy outcome of adopting the DigiYatra system is the significant reduction in waiting times for passengers at various checkpoints within the airport.
