In his current role as Director (Network Planning and Marketing-NPM) of RailTel Corporation of India Limited (RCIL), a mini-ratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways, Yashpal Singh Tomar took over on July 4.
He previously held the position of Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) for Indian Railways' Palakkad Division in the Southern Railway Zone.
Tomar, an IIT alumni and a member of the Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers (IRSSE) 1991 batch, is back at RailTel for a second stint. He formerly worked on deputation at RailTel's regional office in Secunderabad as the Group General Manager.
In the past, Tomar has held a variety of positions with Central Railway, North Central Railway, and South Central Railway as well as at the RDSO in Lucknow and the IRISET (Indian Railways Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications) in Secunderabad.
After taking over the new charge, he said, "I look forward to working with the team and contributing to the growth of the company. Railtel has positioned itself to take advantage of the present phase in India’s ambitious digital transformation story which is going to further accelerate digitisation in all walks of life."
He also stated that his organization will continue to focus on its core sectors while continually exploring new business prospects in order to increase income. They will also continue to work on Network Planning and Marketing plans for the future.
