Raja Bhoj Airport Implements Sustainable Waste Management

01 May 2023

Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal has implemented a comprehensive and sustainable solid waste management system. The airport has installed segregated bins for wet and dry waste, and the waste is transferred to separate collection bins. The airport also has a composting pit where food waste, fallen leaves and grass are turned into nutrient-rich compost. The airport uses this compost to maintain its gardens and decorative plant pots.

In addition to solid waste management, Raja Bhoj Airport has also taken steps to conserve water. The airport has a sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 140 kld, which recycles used water from the terminal building. This water is used to run the air conditioning plant and to maintain the green areas around the airport.

The solid waste management practices and water conservation initiatives undertaken by Raja Bhoj Airport exemplify its commitment to environmental sustainability. These efforts not only minimize the environmental impact of the airport but also serve as an inspiration for other institutions and individuals to adopt similar practices.
