Nod for Rs.32 bn Chennai Port-Maduravoyal elevated expressway

The proposed four-lane elevated expressway corridor of the Chennai Port Trust, aimed at easing city traffic and enabling better movement of freight to the port, has been granted CRZ clearance by the Environment Ministry. NHAI has agreed to take up the work on EPC mode, and tenders are expected to be floated soon. The proposed corridor starts at Chennai Port and continues along the banks of Cooum river until Koyambedu, from where it follows NH-4 and terminates after Maduravoyal junction. The total length of the road is 20.565 km.
