State okays Pimpri-Nigdi Metro extension plan

The state cabinet has approved the metro’s extension up to Nigdi. The project will be executed by MahaMetro which is constructing the Swagate-Pimpri corridor. The route between Pimpri and Nigdi will be 4.41 km long and will have three stations at Chinchwad, Akurdi and Nigdi. The total cost of the project is expected to be at Rs.9,467.3 mn. The state government will be contributing Rs.1,703 mn of which Rs.906 mn will come through loans. The extension will be completely elevated up to Nigdi and will be aligned with the old Pune-Mumbai route.
