Mizoram's Aizawl to come into Indian Railways network

Indian Railways’ plan to connect all the state capitals in the north-eastern region has got a boost after the Union Government’s Budget for the year 2021-22 allocated Rs.10 bn for the Bairabi-Sairang project in Mizoram. Northeast Frontier Railway is executing the new railway line project, and plans to complete it by March 2023. There will be three stations in between: Hortoki, Kawnpui, and Mualkhang. Sairang station is not far from Aizawl, the state capital. According to NFR, traders of the state will be able to bring items including construction materials in a much cheaper and eco-friendly way, while farmers in the state will be able to send their produce to a the wider market.
