Plan to extend Kozhikode airport runway gets fresh impetus

In the aftermath of the recent Air India Express plane crash at Kozhikode that killed 18 people, authorities are looking to revive plans to extend the airport’s runway, though land availability is expected to be a constraint. Earlier plans to extend the runway were stymied as the state government was not able to allocate additional land to the airport developer AAI. Now, options to expand the runway within the constraints are reportedly being explored.
