Second airport for Bengaluru to handle expected traffic surge

01 Sep 2020

Bengaluru has long felt the need for a second airport. Now, a proposal to this effect has been made to the state government, according to the Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC). Bengaluru currently has the Kempegowda International Airport, but another airport will enhance air connectivity in Mysuru, Kodagu, Hassan and Harohalli, as the present airport will find it hard to accommodate the increasing demand by 2030, even after having a second terminal. The new airport will not only decongest the city, but also help the expansion of the aviation industry outside Bengaluru, encouraging balanced economic growth.
