PM Modi lauds SVAMITVA Yojana as a boost for rural economy
PM Narendra Modi told the media that the Survey of Villages Abadi and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas (SVAMITVA) Yojana has strengthened the rural economy of the country.
While addressing a virtual meeting in Madhya Pradesh, he said that after successful implementation of SVAMITVA Yojna on a pilot project basis, it would be implemented on a national level to develop rural areas. It was launched by the PM on 24th April 2020 as a central sector scheme to promote socio-economic empowerment and self-reliant rural India. It aims to establish clear ownership of properties in rural areas via mapping land parcels by drone technology and providing the record of rights to the eligible households by providing them with legal ownership cards. The scheme was successfully implemented in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Haryana and Karnataka. Modi said that now this scheme will be implemented across the country. He added that more than 22 lakh households had been given the property cards, while in Madhya Pradesh over 1.7 lakh households in more than 3,000 rural areas. This scheme will save villagers from borrowing money from third parties or agents based on their property papers and they can get the loan directly from banks, he said.
