Adani Cement Completes World’s Largest Temple Raft Foundation

Adani Cement, in collaboration with PSP Infra, has completed the world’s largest religious temple raft foundation at Umiya Dham near Ahmedabad, marking a milestone in India’s construction and engineering history.
The foundation was cast in a continuous 54-hour operation, with 24,100 cubic metres of ECOMaxX M45 low-carbon concrete poured. This sustainable mix, developed by Adani Cement, reduces carbon emissions while ensuring strength and durability.
Key project highlights include:
- 26 strategically located Ready-Mix Concrete (RMX) plants
- Over 285 transit mixers operating round the clock
- 3,600 tonnes of high-performance cement
- A workforce of more than 600 skilled personnel and technical experts
The pouring process was meticulously planned to avoid cold joints and maintain temperature and mix consistency. Embedded thermocouples monitored durability and strength in real time. ECOMaxX low-carbon concrete incorporates 66 per cent Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCM), cutting the carbon footprint by 60 per cent compared with conventional concrete.
A proprietary Coolcrete formulation kept placement temperatures below 28°C, reducing thermal stress and enhancing longevity, reflecting the company’s commitment to sustainable, green construction practices.
The raft foundation will support the Jagat Janani Maa Umiya Temple, projected to be the world’s tallest temple at 504 feet. Measuring 450 ft x 400 ft x 8 ft, it will sustain 1,551 Dharma Stambhs (pillars). The 60-acre temple complex, with an investment of around Rs 20 billion, is expected to become a cultural and spiritual landmark.
