Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL) awarded contracts to NLC, Juniper, Powerica and Cu-Built after a competitive auction for 250 Megawatt (MW) of wind power capacity. The auction is aimed at expanding the state’s renewable generation portfolio and supporting grid decarbonisation efforts. The award marks a notable procurement round for wind developers in the region.

The successful bidders are expected to develop wind projects and deliver generation capacity to meet contractual obligations under the GUVNL framework. GUVNL organised the auction to secure additional renewable dispatchable resources and to diversify its supply mix without disclosing tariff details in the announcement. The process reflected interest from a range of developers seeking to participate in Gujarat’s energy transition.

The procurement of 250 MW aligns with broader state and national targets to increase the share of renewable energy in the power mix. Developers noted the importance of timely land acquisition, grid integration and construction planning to ensure projects are commissioned as intended. NLC, Juniper, Powerica and Cu-Built will now proceed to finalise project development plans and regulatory clearances in coordination with GUVNL and relevant authorities. The round underscores continued investor appetite for onshore wind development in India.

Project developers are expected to coordinate with transmission utilities for grid interconnection studies and to secure environmental clearances where applicable. Financing arrangements and supply chain mobilisation for towers, blades and electrical equipment will be central to meeting construction schedules. Workforce training and engagement of local contractors is anticipated to support operations and maintenance activities. GUVNL will manage contractual performance mechanisms to ensure delivery and long-term availability.
