REC Power Development and Consultancy (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, has handed over Ryapte Power Transmission Limited, a project-specific Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), to The Tata Power Company for the development of an interstate transmission project in Karnataka.

Tata Power emerged as the successful bidder through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process conducted by RECPDCL, the Bid Process Coordinator, for the development of the “Evacuation Scheme for 2000 MW solar park at Ryapte Village, Tumkur District”. The project will be implemented on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.

The SPV was handed over by Smt. Monisha Barua, GM & HoD, RECPDCL, to Mr. Tarun Katiyar, CEO & MD, TPTCL, in the presence of senior officials from Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL), Tata Power and RECPDCL.

The transmission project includes the development of a 400/220 kV substation at Ryapte in Tumkur District, a 400/220 kV GIS substation at Doddathaggalli near Hosakote, and a 400 kV double circuit transmission line of around 207 km connecting Doddathaggalli to Ryapte and Kolar.

The project also includes a 220 kV double circuit transmission line of around 57 km from Doddathaggalli to Ekarajapura, Hosakote and Sarjapura, along with associated infrastructure works. The project is expected to be completed within 30 months, with an estimated investment of Rs 32 billion.
