DDA Revenue Revives After Strong House Sales

The Delhi Development Authority recorded strong housing sales in the first quarter of fiscal 2026–27 and attributed the performance to the Lieutenant Governor's emphasis on reimagining DDA-developed sub-cities. The authority sold 1,284 flats across all categories and realised Rs 10.2 billion (bn) in revenue during the quarter. Sub-city Narela was the dominant contributor, with 1,153 flats sold, comprising nearly 90 per cent of total sales.\n\nThe authority credited sustained infrastructure development for the uptick, citing projects including the Urban Extension Road-II and the forthcoming Rithala–Narela–Kundli Metro corridor as enablers for improved accessibility. The revenue performance represented a significant rise from Rs 4.62 billion (bn) in the corresponding quarter of fiscal 2025–26, reflecting strengthened demand for DDA housing. Officials noted that the schemes are available online and cover ready-to-move units across income groups, facilitating faster transactions. The sales momentum also benefited from extended application timelines and simplified processes.\n\nSales during the quarter comprised 336 economically weaker section flats, 322 lower income group units, 435 middle income group units and 191 high income group units, with the middle income group accounting for the largest share at 34 per cent. The EWS category in Narela was near complete sell-out, underscoring demand at the lower end of the market. The quarterly results build on the authority's previous year performance, when a total of 11,764 flats were sold across schemes. The schemes mentioned include Karmayogi Awaas Yojana, Nagrik Awaas Yojana and Towering Heights, among others operating in several hubs.\n\nOfficials attributed the success to a programme of reforms that expanded access to affordable housing through lending options, strengthened customer support via helpdesks and introduced a WhatsApp chatbot to aid applicants. They said technology-driven, transparent allotment systems and intensified outreach increased awareness among potential homebuyers. Going forward, the authority plans further policy measures, improved service delivery and upgraded digital platforms while continuing to broaden affordable housing options across the city. These steps are intended to sustain sales momentum and enhance access to housing for diverse income groups.
