Aerolloy Commissions World-Class VAR Furnace in Lucknow

Aerolloy Technologies Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of PTC Industries Limited and a manufacturer of high-precision metal components for aerospace and defence, has successfully installed and commissioned its state-of-the-art Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR) 400 Furnace at the Aerospace Precision Castings Plant within the Strategic Materials Technology Complex (SMTC) in Lucknow, part of the UP Defence Industrial Corridor.
With this commissioning, Aerolloy can now produce some of the largest Titanium castings globally, a specialised capability held by very few companies worldwide. These castings are critical for next-generation aeroengines, defence platforms, and space applications.
Speaking on the occasion, Sachin Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of PTC Industries, said: “The commissioning of the large VAR furnace is a strategic milestone for Aerolloy and PTC Industries. We can now manufacture large Titanium castings for demanding civil and military aeroengine applications, as well as advanced defence and space platforms. Alongside our recently commissioned Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM) furnace for Superalloy castings, Aerolloy is one of only two companies globally capable of producing large investment castings in both Titanium alloys and Superalloys. These castings are essential for components such as Fan Hub Frames, Intermediate Casings, and Turbine Rear Frames, critical for aeroengines and industrial gas turbines, as well as for aircraft, submarines, ultra-light artillery like the M777 ULH, strategic defence systems, and space platforms. This positions Aerolloy to strengthen India’s aerospace supply chain and reduce reliance on imported critical castings.”

Strategic Impact
The VAR furnace enhances Aerolloy’s integrated capabilities, complementing the VIM facility to cover the full chain—from Titanium and Superalloy materials to large investment castings. This integration boosts efficiency, cost competitiveness, and supply chain resilience, while advancing India’s aerospace and defence ecosystem.
With rising global demand for aerospace-grade Titanium and Superalloys driven by commercial aviation, space exploration, and defence programmes, Aerolloy is well positioned to capture domestic and international market opportunities, supporting technological self-reliance and secure supply chains.
