Infosys has completed a major data modernisation programme for CSX Corporation (CSX), delivering a unified, cloud-native platform built with Infosys Topaz (Topaz), Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Purview. The implementation is among the largest of its kind in the transportation and logistics sector and aims to provide real-time analytics, stronger governance and a business-ready data foundation. The project was executed to accelerate reporting, improve decision-making and reduce operational costs.

Infosys led the end-to-end consolidation of a fragmented data landscape into a single governed environment. Automated metadata governance was implemented across 28 domains and the programme produced 170 data products to support AI accelerators, self-serve analytics and Azure monitoring. The effort replaced multiple legacy systems and established a standardised foundation for enterprise data consumption.

Work with Microsoft and CSX enabled the programme acceleration and close collaboration was credited with meeting the rail operator's objectives. The modernisation consolidated over 50,000 legacy reports into 1,200 actionable insights and was said to save thousands of hours through automation. The new platform established a basis for predictive maintenance, logistics optimisation and enterprise-wide operational intelligence, supporting real-time, AI-driven decision-making.

The initiative drew on Infosys' longstanding collaboration with Microsoft, including joint design and architecture planning and early access to Fabric features. Infosys said the programme reflects a commitment to helping enterprises become AI-first and to create measurable business impact at scale. The company employs over 330,000 people and supports clients in 63 countries, positioning the outcome as a model for digital transformation across transportation and logistics. Executives indicated the approach will inform future cloud and AI initiatives while enabling faster time-to-insight across mission-critical operations and measurable business outcomes.
