Hindustan Construction Company Limited (HCC) has secured a contract valued at Rs 16,622.7 mn from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road Phase IV. The award was made to the Aakshya-HCC Joint Venture in which HCC holds a 49 per cent stake. The project forms part of the GMLR corridor aimed at improving east-west connectivity in Mumbai and is expected to advance urban movement and commuter access.

The scope under Phase I covers construction of a second-level flyover along with free-left movements at grade. The flyover has a total length of 1,330 metres while the at-grade road extends for 3,200 metres and the free-left at grade measures 2,620 metres. Works will include integration with existing road networks and associated civil works to ensure continuity of traffic flows.

Phase II comprises a cloverleaf interchange and free-left bypasses at grade with a total cloverleaf loop and interchange length of 2,400 metres and free-left bypasses extending to 3,600 metres. The scope also includes an obligatory cable-stayed span of 180 metres and ramps with a combined length of 270 metres. The design intends to improve vehicular movement across a busy corridor and reduce congestion.

HCC, with an engineering heritage of nearly 100 years, states that it has delivered a significant portion of the nation's power and transport infrastructure. The group has executed 26 per cent of India's hydro power generation and 60 per cent of India's nuclear power generation capacities, delivered over 4,036 lane km of expressways and highways, more than 402 km of complex tunnelling and 403 bridges. HCC operates across the Transportation, Power and Water sectors and continues to pursue large urban infrastructure projects.
