Eicher Trucks & Buses, a business unit of VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), has inaugurated its 11th Regional Competence Development Centre (RCDC) at Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST), Murthal, Haryana.

The centre was inaugurated by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in the presence of government officials, academic representatives and VECV executives.

Established in partnership with DCRUST, the approximately 7,900 sq ft facility will serve as a centre for automotive technology learning and skill development. It will provide students, faculty members and dealership professionals with hands-on exposure to contemporary and emerging commercial vehicle technologies.

The facility combines classroom learning with practical training using digital content, simulation-based modules and live vehicle demonstrations. It includes dynamic driveline models, engine and aggregate sections, electrical and diagnostics laboratories, an Eicher Pro X vehicle corner, a vehicle inspection pit and VECV’s Training on Wheels unit.

Learners will receive exposure to electric vehicles, mechatronics, advanced powertrains, automated transmission systems, vehicle electronics, on-board diagnostics, telematics, connected vehicle technologies, BS VI systems, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, hybrid technologies and alternative fuels such as CNG and LNG.

S S Gill, Chief Commercial Officer, VE Commercial Vehicles, said the centre would help create future-ready talent while strengthening the mobility ecosystem through a combination of skilled people and advanced technologies.

Sumit Dewan, Senior Vice President, VE Commercial Vehicles, said students from the centre would have opportunities to work across Eicher’s dealership network in Delhi-NCR, Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh. He added that the facility would also strengthen technical capabilities across the company’s service network.

The centre will support nearly 50 dealerships across Delhi-NCR, Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh. Around 150 students annually from DCRUST’s Mechanical, Electrical and Agricultural Engineering streams are expected to benefit from the facility.

Eicher’s Training on Wheels programme is also expected to reach nearly 600 students annually at other technical institutions in the region through awareness and orientation programmes on emerging automotive technologies.
