The Kerala High Court further extended the suspension of toll collection at the National Highways Authority of India’s (NHAI) Paliyekkara toll plaza in Thrissur, citing the poor condition of the service road at Muringoor on NH 544.
The extension came after a report by the District Collector of Thrissur highlighted the damaged service road, based on inputs from the police and the Motor Vehicles Department.
A Division Bench of Justice A Muhamed Mustaque and Justice Harisankar V Menon, which was scheduled to decide on lifting the suspension, ruled that toll collection would remain suspended until the road is repaired.
The NHAI informed the court that the damage occurred during excavation for the construction of a retention wall. The court has now directed the authority to restore the service road before the next hearing on Thursday.
