Minda, Toyodenso Form JV for Auto Switches in India

Minda Corporation Limited has signed a joint venture agreement with Japan’s Toyodenso Co. to manufacture automotive switches for the Indian market. The partnership features a 60:40 shareholding structure, with Minda Corporation holding the majority stake.

The new venture will design, develop, manufacture, and market automotive switches for two-wheelers, passenger vehicles, and other segments. A greenfield manufacturing facility will be set up in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, and is expected to commence operations in the second half of financial year 2026–27.

According to the announcement made on 11 June 2025, the joint venture has already secured orders from Indian clients. The collaboration aims to meet rising demand for locally manufactured components in India’s expanding automotive industry.

Toyodenso will bring in technological and engineering expertise, while Minda Corporation will leverage its experience in manufacturing and supply chain operations. The alliance supports India’s broader push for localisation of auto components and advanced mobility solutions.

Ashok Minda, Chairman and Group CEO of Minda Corporation, called the agreement a significant step toward developing smart mobility and enhancing domestic manufacturing. Toyodenso’s President, Kiyoshi Koide, said the venture would contribute to the growth of India’s automotive parts manufacturing and sales ecosystem.

Minda Corporation, founded in 1985, is the flagship company of the Spark Minda Group and operates across India and international markets. It supplies vehicle access systems, electrical distribution, die-casting parts, and electronic components to OEMs in the two-wheeler, passenger vehicle, and commercial vehicle segments.
