Pangti Village governing bodies (GBs) and the local Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) action committee have urged contractor M/S LPSS Infra, Kohima, to expedite completion of the PMGSY Phase-III T-01 Mangmetong to Doyang road and to replace damaged water supply pipelines that serve the settlement. The appeal followed a general meeting convened by village GBs on April 21, where members and the public outlined pressing infrastructure concerns.

The resolution adopted at the meeting recorded dissatisfaction with the slow pace of works and the hardships this has imposed on residents. It called for accelerated formation cutting, prompt culvert construction and the timely erection of retaining walls, breast walls and side drains to restore and maintain vehicular movement, particularly during the rainy season. The meeting expressed particular concern that delays have severely hampered access to markets and essential services for the village population.

The resolution stipulated that workmanship must meet prescribed technical standards and that the progress and quality of works will be monitored from time to time by the concerned bodies. It noted that the water supply pipeline to Pangti Village snapped on November 12, 2024, creating an acute shortage. During the lean season from November to April residents were said to have been compelled to procure drinking water at a cost exceeding Rs 30,000 per day, imposing a heavy financial burden on many households.

The Pangti Village GBs, the PMGSY action committee and the public have called upon the contractor to complete the works and replace the damaged pipeline on or before July 31, 2026. The resolution warned that failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe would relieve village authorities and the public of responsibility for subsequent consequences. The bodies urged the contractor to engage necessary resources and coordinate with the concerned agencies to avert further disruption to daily life and mobility.
