PM To Disburse Rs 24 bn Under PM VBRY on 19 June
Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) is designed to accelerate job creation, promote formalisation of employment and expand social security coverage across sectors. The scheme has facilitated employment for one point five million (1.5 mn) beneficiaries to date and aims to support further formal employment opportunities. The incentives apply across sectors including manufacturing and services and are paired with measures to enhance worker skills and employability.
Under the scheme first-time employees are eligible for an incentive of up to Rs 15,000, while employers who generate additional employment can receive incentives of up to Rs 3,000 per month for each additional employee, encouraging sustained job creation. Employers in the manufacturing sector are entitled to incentives for four years and employers in other sectors for two years. The structure is intended to boost recruitment, strengthen social security cover and enhance employability.
PM-VBRY came into effect on one August 2025 and carries a total outlay of Rs 994.46 billion (Rs 994.46 bn), aiming to incentivise more than 35 million (35 mn) jobs over a two-year period. Of these roughly 19.2 million (19.2 mn) beneficiaries are expected to be first-time entrants to the workforce. Officials view the scheme as complementing other government measures to foster employment-led growth and translate economic progress into quality formal employment for youth.
