Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced the induction of 70 electric vehicles into its municipal fleet to support greener civic operations. The programme forms part of a broader effort by the civic body to modernise service delivery and reduce reliance on fossil fuel vehicles. The corporation presented the procurement as a step towards upgrading urban mobility and improving air quality in the city. Officials outlined that the vehicles have been selected to match operational requirements across municipal departments.

The batch comprises 70 battery electric vehicles that will be deployed for a range of municipal functions including waste management, street maintenance and service transport. The corporation indicated that vehicle specifications were chosen for durability, load capacity and energy efficiency to suit local conditions.
