Simplex Castings Limited has secured a Rs 130.2 million (mn) order from Thyssenkrupp Group for specialised equipment used in coke oven batteries. The contract comprises 80 sets each of zero-leakage coke oven doors and high-grade pusher side doors, together with 10 sets of mechanical plungers and associated helical springs for pusher side doors. The order was announced from the company's Bhilai facility and is expected to strengthen the near term order book.

The zero-leakage doors are presented as emission-free technology offering sealing performance eight to 10 times superior to conventional designs, extended lifespan, and simplified maintenance through cartridge-type units. The advanced capability was developed in collaboration with Japanese technology and is stated to underpin the company's suitability as a supplier for environmentally compliant coke production worldwide. The doors aim to assist plants in meeting modern emission standards and improving operational reliability.

The firm indicated the order will position it for sustained growth in the steel and thermal sector and that execution timelines will be provided in due course. The chairman said he was honoured to partner with Thyssenkrupp and that a recent visit by the German engineering group validated the quality of the Bhilai manufacturing capabilities and the zero-leakage door technology. He added that selection by a global engineering leader highlighted the company's manufacturing skill and reliability in serving major international customers.

Coke oven batteries convert metallurgical coal into high-quality coke by heating in oxygen-free chambers at 1,000–1,200°C for 15–30 hours, producing strong, low-impurity carbon material essential for blast furnaces. The process also recovers byproducts such as coal gas, ammonia and tar, which are purified and reused for energy or sale. Multiple ovens operating in sequence enable continuous production at scale, and the company's doors are presented as a component that supports emission-free operation and regulatory compliance.
